One of the most common questions we get asked is:
"Why will you only take 8 passengers - some limousine companies take many more?"
The answer is simple:
"It's against the law"
At A Touch of Class we pride ourselves with our professional attitude to all of our work. We could just risk taking more people but this would invalidate our insurance and might cause our vehicles to be stopped by the Police - ruining your evening out.
The Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981 states:
(Just an excerpt of the Act)
Definition and classification of public service vehicles:
1. Definition of 'public service vehicle' .....
(1) Subject to the provisions of this section, in this Act 'public service vehicle' means a motor vehicle (other than
a tramcar) which :-(a) being a vehicle adapted to carry more than eight passengers, is used for carrying passengers for hire or reward; or (b) being a vehicle not so adapted, is used for carrying passengers for hire or reward at separate fares in the course of a business of carrying passengers.
Because of this our vehicles would be classed in the same way as a bus - with everything that entails - our door sizes alone would prevent us from obtaining the necessary documentation.
So if you need to take more that 8 people - you'll need two cars!
